Henry Greene, president, Leonard Rogoff, historian and Will Grossman, director of operations, met at the NC Museum of History in Raleigh with representatives from all 4 of the museum venues we have scheduled for the exhibit- these include Raleigh, Wilmington, Greensboro and Charlotte. We are getting close to finalizing the last venue in Asheville which will probably be at UNC-A.

The exhibit design team (Design Dimension) gave a very informative PowerPoint presentation with illustrations of what the exhibit will look like along with a walk-through describing what the audience will see and experience. They even had 3-D mock ups of what the actual installation will look like at each venue - since each museums space and layouts are different (ranging from 5000sf to 1200sf) the designers have devised ways to accommodate all of he variables yet keep the experience the same. We should shortly have a copy of the PowerPoint images on our website for everyone to admire!
The venues' representatives were thrilled with the progress and they are all eager to host the exhibit. We have begun discussions regarding marketing and promotion and how the venues and the JHFNC would collaborate together to most efficiently (and economically) bring the exhibits to their venues. Discussions on the opening events, publicity, ongoing programs, docent development and training were all discussed.
We also started a discussion of each venue forming Host Committees, with support from the JHFNC, to help promote and raise additional funds. If you are interested in being part of a host committee please contact Will Grossman at (919) 668-5839.
The Exhibit will debut June 13, 2010 at the NC Museum of History in Raleigh, so efforts to develop the host committee for Raleigh will start immediately and we will start meetings for this purpose shortly.
