New $100,000 Challenge Grant Announced by Sandra and Leon Levine

We are pleased to announce that through the generous support of our members we reached our goal of matching the challenge grant by Sandra and Leon Levine of Charlotte. We are grateful to the generosity and commitment of the Leon Levine Foundation of Charlotte in helping us complete funding for the Down Home project.


 


 
Telling The Story

In some parts of our country, being Jewish can be taken for granted. But here in North Carolina, where Jews represent less than one percent of the state’s population, we cannot assume that our non-Jewish friends and neighbors are familiar with Jewish customs, comfortable with our traditions, or welcoming in their acceptance. It is valuable to us all, Jew and non-Jew, that we live in communities that embrace diversity, and that our children and grandchildren are able to thrive in an environment which promotes personal character and identity.

I am honored to serve as President of the JHFNC, North Carolina’s sole statewide Jewish historical and cultural organization. It is a privilege to work with a talented group of experts and an experienced board of directors. These individuals lead busy lives, and their commitment to the JHFNC is further proof of the importance and value of our work.
